Privacy Policy

Effective October 5, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Binder collects, why, and how it is used. Binder is a fan-made, non-commercial project currently in Open Beta; this policy will be updated as the game evolves.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: username, optional display name, email address, and a securely hashed password (never stored in readable form).

Session and security data: session cookies used to keep you signed in; your IP address and browser/device information, recorded per login session and for certain security events (failed logins, password resets, email verification, two-factor codes), used to protect accounts and detect abuse.

Gameplay and economy data: your cards, currency balances, and an append-only history of currency changes, box openings, marketplace listings/sales, and mail gifts, kept to maintain the integrity of the in-game economy and to investigate disputes or abuse.

Communications: chat room messages and private messages are stored as sent. They are not automatically scanned or analyzed beyond basic rate-limiting, and are reviewed by staff only in response to a report or ticket.

Uploaded content: avatar images you upload are processed and stored on our servers.

Reading activity: when you open a post in Information (Patch Notes, Dev Diary, Guides and the FAQ) or on our public blog, we record that it was opened and your reading progress: how long the page was actively on screen and how far you scrolled. Logged-out blog visitors are counted by a one-way fingerprint of their IP address and browser, not by name. We use this only to see which posts get read and to improve them.

Cookies and local storage: a session cookie, used only to keep you signed in; local display preferences (such as theme and low-spec mode), stored in your browser; if you install Binder as a Progressive Web App, your browser may cache static app files locally for offline loading. Binder does not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

3. What We Don't Collect

  • Binder does not currently process real-money payments and does not collect payment card or billing information.
  • Binder does not use third-party analytics or advertising tracking services.

4. How We Use Information

  • To operate and provide the game, including your account, inventory, and progress.
  • To keep accounts secure, detect and prevent abuse, and enforce the Rules & Regulations.
  • To respond to support tickets and reports you submit.
  • To send account-related email (password reset, email verification, two-factor login codes) via our email provider.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your information. Staff can access account and gameplay data as needed to provide support and enforce the Rules & Regulations. We may disclose information if required by law. Binder does not otherwise share your information with third parties.

6. Data Retention

Account and gameplay data is kept while your account is active. Some records, such as the currency/economy ledger and marketplace/mail history, are kept in an append-only form even after individual items are used or sold, to preserve the integrity and auditability of the in-game economy.

7. Security

Passwords and one-time verification codes are stored as secure hashes, never in readable form. Sessions use rotating security tokens to help detect stolen or replayed login sessions.

8. Children's Privacy

Binder does not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Binder changes. We will update the effective date below when we do.
